Previous owners information on the car and its history;
1968 Camaro SS: VIN # 124378N440748
The Story:
71,600’ish original #’s matching 295 horse 350 V8, Super Sport with 2x speed power-glide auto, 12 bolt 3:08 gear ratio, SS Camaro.
This beautiful car has only seen 3 previous owners, and I am the 4th and also the guy who brought her back to life. I found this car at the “Turkey Rod Run” Car show in Daytona Beach, FL. This car’s life began as an original purchase by a FL family, the daughter took her 16 year old driving test in it, and later inherited the same car. Later in marriage/life, the car sat in their garage until they got it painted for the first time since new, then it sat for another 9 years until they decided to refurbish the garage into a children’s playroom. A local collector was called over to preview, pulled back the many blankets and found a 71,000 original mile gem. He took it home, had the rear-end rebuilt, placed all new badge-ing and accessories on it that needed attention, detailed and kept in his garage. I purchased this car, placed approx $7500 worth of “refreshment” into it with:
New springs, shocks, grommets
New ball joints, tie rod ends
New brakes
New factory exhaust (deep yet not ridiculously loud)
Gas tank removed, new sending unit and gaskets and cleaned out/replaced
Transmission filter gasket serviced (Tranny still very tight)
Engine pulled due to rear main seal leak – refreshed with new rods, heads rebuilt, balanced crank, by a professional engine shop in Jonesboro GA (Chastain Engines). Engine painted and detailed and replaced better than new. Only diff than new is little more aggressive cam emplaced.
New Radiator 3x core
All new engine accessories, hoses, belts, etc.
New windshield put in and sealed professionally, Rear window pulled and re-sealed
New Battery
New heater core and all hoses
Original carb professionally rebuilt
New front end alignment
Remaining Issue/No perfect: Trunk lid had a spoiler put on (paint matching of course), however will not stay in the up position due to weight. Currently using stick – bought the additional spring, can’t figure out how to emplace for the life of me. Using a prop stick as of now.
All interior lights and gauges work, dome, dash, blinkers, etc. No random vibrations and/or noises or pulling on road. Smooth running vehicle with all original parts still intact on a very solid body.
Interior is in great condition. A serious factory color coded head turner. Car could be a serious show car with the right owner, potentially new paint and attention to detail. Right now an awesome driver all #’s matching piece of American History.
